ArtPrize 2016 at GRAM

September 1, 2016 – October 30, 2016

What do artists have to say about the past, the present, and the future? The fifteen artists participating in ArtPrize Eight at GRAM approach this theme using a broad variety of ideas and materials. Some look to the history of art as a way of responding to the world around them, creating new works that draw on artistic styles and stories of the past. Others imagine how the state of today’s world will affect life in the future, or imagine radical developments to assure human survival. Finally, what could be better than an artist’s clock to ground us in the present moment?

GRAM serves as one of downtown Grand Rapids’ premier venues during the three-week, international art competition, and is one of only a handful of ArtPrize venues that provides a professionally developed exhibition for visitors.
