Story Time: A Fabulous Visit with Andy Warhol

January 20, 2018, 1:00 PM-2:30 PM

The Grand Rapids Art Museum and the Grand Rapids Public Library have teamed up to present a fun family outing each month! Programs have a different theme each month, are included free with museum admission, and require no preregistration. All programs will take place at the Grand Rapids Art Museum, and include story time, mini family exhibition tours, and an art project! All programs are for families of all ages, and last approximately 90 minutes.

In its final week at the museum, the Andy Warhol’s American Icons exhibition will be our inspiration into the world of Pop Art! The Grand Rapids Public Library will begin by telling several tales of Andy Warhol’s pop art world, including the Uncle Andy book. Then docent tour guides will take families through the exhibition to travel to the moon, cook Campbell’s soup, and box with Muhammad Ali!

Printing was one of Warhol’s favorite techniques, and at the conclusion of your visit, family’s will go to the studio to carve a clay block and then print a famous icon or story of your own to take home!
