Story Time: Hooray for Earth Day!
April 21, 2018, 1:00 PM-2:30 PM
The Grand Rapids Art Museum and the Grand Rapids Public Library have teamed up to present a fun family outing each month! Programs have a different theme each month, are included free with museum admission, and require no preregistration. All programs will take place at the Grand Rapids Art Museum, and include story time, mini family exhibition tours, and an art project! All programs are for families of all ages, and last approximately 90 minutes.
In celebration of Earth Day, the library will begin by reading stories that share the importance and fun of being an environmental hero at any age! After hearing those stories, families will be led by the docent guide into the exhibition Alexis Rockman: The Great Lakes Cycle to explore the harm done to the lake habitats over the years and what we can do to help improve them.
Finally, families will travel to the Studio to experiment with different watercolor techniques to create underwater scenes full of aquatic life and intense color, just like the ones Alexis Rockman created!
