This month, learn about the importance of art in public spaces. Public artwork plays a distinguishing role in our community—from Maya Lin’s Ecliptic and Alexander Calder’s La Grande Vitesse, to DGRI’s Rad Women project and outdoor murals. Public art enhances our civic spaces and adds vibrancy to our community. Join us as Kimberly Van Driel, Director of Public Space Management at Downtown Grand Rapids Inc., discusses the important role of public art in our city, and some of DGRI’s public art initiatives.

Following the lecture explore Maya Lin: Flow on Level 2, Lin’s Ecliptic in Rosa Parks Circle, and search for Lin’s portrait in downtown Grand Rapids as part of DGRI’s Rad Women Project.
