The Maintenance Technician performs and coordinates a wide variety of custodial and maintenance duties in and around Museum facilities; troubleshoots, performs minor repairs, and responds to emergency calls for service, implements setup and takedown for a wide variety of Museum and rental events, works closely with staff to meet the custodial needs of the Museum, and resolves problems to ensure efficient and safe operations.
A Membership Services Associate provides the first impression for visiting guest and members. An associate maintains and ensures guest-centers museum practices and provides the highest level of customer service. This position plays a vital role in communicating information to guests and providing a high-quality experience to members.
Store Associates work under the supervision of the Museum Retail Manager; and provide a positive visitor experience for Museum guests. Store associates are responsible for assisting customers in making purchases; by answering questions; showing the merchandise to customers; and completing the sale.
A Visitor Services Associate provides the first impression and the last interaction for visiting guests. An associate maintains and ensures each visitor receives the highest level of customer service set forth by museum practices and hospitality industry standards. This position plays a vital role curating a visitor’s experience to GRAM or the greater Grand Rapids area by tentatively listening, expertly researching, and accurately communicating requested information exceeding a visitor’s expectations. A Visitor Services Associate will also assist with various administration projects as well as provide a security presence in all galleries during open museum hours.
The Studio Programs Lead Associate is the primary backup to the Studio Programs Coordinator and assists with implementing youth, family, and adult education programs; assisting and supervising volunteers; and instructing workshops.
The Grand Rapids Art Museum Curatorial Department is responsible for the regular rotation of the permanent collection galleries as well as the organization and installation of a number of special exhibitions throughout the year, including the 2017 ArtPrize exhibition. The department is seeking an unpaid intern to assist with various aspects of exhibition preparation and related research. Interns may work on art and artist research, write label copy or texts for our website, and help prepare checklists and other exhibition or publication related material. The Exhibitions Intern will work closely with the Chief Curator, Curatorial Assistant, Lead Preparator, and Registrar as well as team members from a range of other museum departments including Communications, Learning and Creativity, and Advancement.
Intern will experience working in both a professional office setting and a Museum setting, also will learn many of the skills necessary to become a valuable Human Resource Assistant.
