Summer Art Camp
Express yourself at the Art Museum this summer!
Summer Art Camps are exciting visual arts encounters offered to children ages 5 – 14. Campers will learn about and make art in the unique setting of the Art Museum. Each session allows campers to connect with original works of art, build their creative skills, and participate in a mini-exhibition celebration at the end of the week.
Each day includes studio, gallery, and outdoor activities!
Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 12 noon
Discovery Through Art
July 12 – 16, Ages 5 – 7
July 19 – 23, Ages 8 – 11
Campers will create their own projects inspired by the Art Museum’s permanent collection. Experience a wide variety of styles by coming face-to-face with works by artists from Rembrandt to Warhol. These sessions will allow children to use many techniques including drawing, printmaking, and painting.
Holland and the Impressionists
July 26 – 30, Ages 5 – 7
August 2 – 6, Ages 8 – 11
Explore the culture and landscape of Holland through the eyes of artists and learn about Impressionist paintings. This camp will focus on the visiting Dutch Utopia exhibition and the Art Museum’s permanent collection. Participants will learn about the history of many paintings and make their own masterpieces based on what they see.
The Science of Art
August 9 – 13, Youth entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grades
Campers will experiment with a variety of different media and examine how artists use scientific discoveries to create works of art. These sessions will include activities based on color theory, chemistry, and engineering.
