Join us for a gallery talk by Director and CEO, Dana Friis-Hansen, and Chief Curator, Ron Platt, as they discuss the genesis and organization of GRAM’s latest exhibition, A Decade at the Center: Recent Gifts and Acquisitions. Organized to celebrate GRAM’s 10th anniversary at 101 Monroe Center, the exhibition also provides a look into the art acquisitions process and GRAM’s collecting strategy.

Over the past five years, GRAM has added 400 works to the collection through gift and purchase. Friis-Hansen will discuss the crucial role of donors and their gifts to growing a museum’s permanent collection, while Platt will discuss how works of art are selected and added to the collection, highlighting specific examples from A Decade at the Center. The works in the exhibition illustrate GRAM’s collecting strategy that includes acquiring more global and diverse works, having art that reflects topical issues, and providing opportunities for visitors to connect with both their own and other cultures.
