LAND, SEA, SKY
At their most fundamental, landscapes capture what the artist sees or imagines in the natural environment. Yet far from an objective record of the world, the landscape genre has always been a vehicle for artists to express various political ideologies and emotional registers, and to show off technical prowess and formal experimentation. Mistakenly considered by some to be merely a pleasant decorative genre, this exhibition reexamines the landscape as a powerful tool through which viewers might intuit an artist’s interior world and motivations.
This exhibition will feature a large selection of landscape paintings, photographs, and prints in GRAM’s first floor galleries from November 22nd, 2025 through August 23, 2026. Works in this exhibition come from GRAM’s permanent collection as well as via a generous loan from Andrey and Anna Omeltchenko.
