Mary Ann Keeler

Collector, Patron of the Arts, Life Trustee
Grand Rapids Art Museum

Our hearts are heavy with the passing of the Grand Rapids Art Museum’s longtime friend, life trustee, and champion of the arts, Mary Ann Keeler. Mary Ann helped change and shape the artistic landscape of Grand Rapids through her passion and advocacy in bringing authentic art experiences to the community.

We are grateful for the many years that she shared with us as a Trustee and Life Trustee. As the founding member of GRAM’s Legacy Society, she was instrumental in building a group of supporters whose contributions have an enduring impact through their planned gifts.

Mary Ann’s legacy at GRAM will continue to flourish in the galleries through the works of art that she contributed to the Museum’s collection, and through the lives that she touched as a trailblazer in our community.

In memory of Mary Ann, GRAM will present an exhibition featuring the works of art she collected and added to GRAM’s permanent collection as part of her legacy. Exhibition dates to be announced.

Mary Ann Keeler was a friend and inspiration to me and the Grand Rapids community. She served as a mentor, guiding me on our shared passions for public art, performance and education. Leading by action, Mary Ann advocated to make downtown Grand Rapids a meeting place for culture, arts and performance and I was lucky to be by her side as many of these organizations grew into the landmarks they are today. It is impossible to walk across our city without seeing her influence woven throughout its cultural fabric. I am thankful for Mary Ann’s presence in my life, and will deeply miss her
