About the Speaker
Originally from Liberia, West Africa, Alfield Reeves is a self-taught freelance editorial and portrait photographer based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He specializes in creating work that encourages self-reflection and expression, promotes equitable action and showcases the identity and culture of Black & brown people. His images bridge traditional divides between photojournalism, portraiture and fashion. His work is featured in magazines and online platforms like Vogue Greece, Grand Rapids Magazine, Grand Rapids Business Journal, ProPublica, and The Trace, and has been part of numerous exhibitions locally and statewide.

This event is organized by the Visionnaire Executive Committee, a group of creative young adults, ages 21 – 40, committed to introducing new audiences to the Grand Rapids Art Museum and encouraging lifelong engagement. Through a variety of events and programs, the Executive Committee furthers GRAM’s mission to connect people through art, creativity, and design, and promote the Museum’s world-class collection and special exhibitions.

Please note: programming at GRAM is running with enhanced safety measures, including face covering requirements regardless of vaccination status, regular sanitization and cleaning, and restricting the sharing of tools/materials among participants. Masks will be available for those who do not have one.
