Adult Workshop: Painting with Optical Colors

Thursday, Apr 15, 2021
6:00 pm — 9:00 pm

Sold Out

Attend GRAM’s Adult Workshops and discover three hours of artmaking and gallery activities. Tour the collection galleries while discussing the history and context of a different process, then experience an in-depth demonstration of tools and techniques before creating your own unique project. Leave with a record of what was taught along with a list of resources for continuing at home. All materials provided. Open to ages 16+.

On April 15, spend an evening exploring the mesmerizing phenomenon of optical mixing through paint. Optical mixing refers to the illusion of two colors painted next to each other, rather than blended, allowing the viewer’s eye to mix them together to create a new color. Get inspired by these techniques throughout Mathias J. Alten: An Enduring Legacy as we create our own paintings using optical color mixing.

Please note: programming at GRAM is running with enhanced safety measures, including reduced program capacity to ensure distancing, face covering requirements, regular sanitization and cleaning, and restricting the sharing of tools/materials among participants.
