Marking Christian Devotion Across Time: A Curator Talk with Henry Luttikhuizen

Thursday, Oct 19, 2023
6:00 pm — 7:00 pm

Join us for a curator talk with Henry Luttikhuizen, guest curator of Everything Beautiful in Its Time: Six Centuries of Prints from the Jansma Collection. Luttikhuizen (PhD, University of Virginia) is Scholar-in-Residence at Grand Valley State University and the guest curator of Everything Beautiful in Its Time. His lecture will focus on the ways in which Albrecht Dürer, Domenico Tiepolo, William Blake, and Max Pechstein reinterpreted well known biblical texts and narratives through the production of their respective print series. Luttikhuizen’s presentation will address not only how these visual images were informed by the religious commitments of their makers, but also more importantly, how these images helped shape religious beliefs and devotional practices.

This event is free as part of Meijer Free Thursday Nights.
