Thursday, Feb 16, 2023
5:00 pm — 8:00 pm

The way artists make monuments, how we view them, and the stories they tell all continue to change through time. Rethinking Monuments: American Sculpture in its Time at the Grand Rapids Art Museum traces some of these changes from 1850 – 2000. The sculptors in this exhibition created large and small monuments. In diverse ways, their works experiment with ways to confront the past, shape the present, and hope for the future. Explore 3‑D artworks and activities to adapt and utilize for your classroom.
