GRAM Reads: The Art Spy

Sunday, Dec 6, 2026
1:30 pm — 3:00 pm

Calling all book lovers! Join us at GRAM for a conversation on “The Art Spy” with literary influencer Tara McCrackin of @taratalks_books and author Michelle Young, who will join the event virtually. The acclaimed book tells the true story of Rose Valland, the Paris curator who secretly spied on the Nazis to save thousands of masterpieces during World War II.

During the Nazi occupation of Paris, the Jeu de Paume museum became the headquarters of the régime’s vast art looting operation. Rose Valland, a curator there, worked undercover at the center of it all. While Hitler amassed stolen art for his planned Führermuseum, Valland secretly passed crucial information to the Resistance network, came face to face with top-ranking officials, and even faced death in the final hours of Liberation Day. Drawing on previously undiscovered documents, Young restores this overlooked heroine to her rightful place in history.

Whether you’ve finished the book or just added it to your book club’s list, all are welcome.
