Join GRAM for a day of fun just for Scouts, themed around ‘Expressing Yourself!’ On Saturday, March 5, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts of all levels are invited to enjoy three floors of art, games in the galleries, interactive activities, and art-making projects in GRAM Studio. Throughout the day, Scouts will discover how artists express themselves in their artwork while also exploring ways to express their own story. The same activities are offered at both the morning and afternoon sessions.
Guests will rotate between activity stations, including:
Become an Artist: Scouts put their creativity to work in the GRAM Studio! Everyone is invited to create a sculpture to express what makes them special, using fun materials to create a truly unique work of art.
Stories from Photos: Docents will guide Scouts through the exhibition Dawoud Bey and Carrie Mae Weems: In Dialogue. Scouts will explore the stories the artists are expressing in their photographs, and then Scouts can sketch their own story about their family and community.
Expressive Art: In the permanent collection, Scouts will explore how artists use color, shapes, and subjects to express feelings and messages to the world. Scouts will play a game to express their feelings about the artwork before creating their own expressive artwork.
Registration required by February 25. Book early before spaces are sold out. To register, please contact Kristen Hoeker, Group Experience and Volunteer Manager, at khoeker@artmuseumgr.org or 616.831.2930.
Scouts can register for a single session and can be registered as troops/groups or as individuals. A troop leader or parent must be present. Price includes admission, all activities, and a GRAM patch.
Please note: Program safety measures include face covering recommendations, regular sanitization and cleaning, and restricting the sharing of tools/materials among participants. Masks will be available for those who do not have one.
