Walking Tour: Great Romance Stories of Grand Rapids

Tuesday, Jun 22, 2021
10:30 am — 12:00 pm

Enjoy a guided walking tour of downtown Grand Rapids in this special series in honor of the exhibition American Perspectives: Stories from the American Folk Art Museum Collection. Chief tour ambassador Caroline Cook of Grand Rapids Running and Walking Tours will take participants on a themed tour as we explore the history, stories, and art in our community. Each tour will last approximately 90 minutes and will be rescheduled in case of rain.

The artworks in American Perspectives highlight the uniquely personal events, stories, and traditions of folk artists, including stories of love and other important life experiences. Represented in the exhibition are portraits of couples, anniversary gifts, and even a pair of love birds.

During this guided tour, we will highlight real, local love stories of Grand Rapids and explore the romance of our community.

We’re excited for guests to safely participate in select programming at the Museum. Expect new procedures including: reduced program capacity to ensure distancing, face covering requirements, regular sanitization and cleaning, and restricting the sharing of tools/materials among participants.
