About the Artwork
Dario Robleto makes art grounded in personal experience and American history. His interests are wide-ranging, and music in many forms has been an important part of his life. Survival Does Not Lie in the Heavens looks like fields of stars in a night sky, but is actually composed of photographs of stage lights taken from the covers of live concert albums. The piece is a memorial of sorts, because all of the recording artists represented are deceased blues, jazz and gospel musicians.
