Survival Does Not Lie in the Heavens looks like fields of stars in a night sky, but is actually composed of photographs of stage lights taken from the covers of live concert albums. The piece is a memorial of sorts, because all of the recording artists represented are deceased blues, jazz and gospel musicians.
