Gallery Chat: A Shared Vision
Friday, Sep 18, 2026
1:00 pm — 2:30 pm
Drop in to a gallery and chat with a GRAM docent about the works of art on view. Drawn from gifts and promised gifts to GRAM’s collection, A Shared Vision: The Glen W. Johnson and Thomas P. Merchant Collection brings together prints, photographs, and multiples from approximately 1960 to 2015 by artists such as Kara Walker, Lorna Simpson, John Baldessari, Robert Rauschenberg, Jenny Holzer, Alex Katz, Robert Motherwell, Andy Warhol, David Salle, and Michigan artist Michael Pfleghaar, among others. The installation highlights the collectors’ keen eye for visual language — where images, texts, and ideas intersect — across movements from modern and conceptual art to contemporary photography and abstraction.
Docents will be stationed by a specific work, and guests can stop by to chat with them about the art and artist. This is a fantastic opportunity for art lovers of all ages to explore the many works on view at GRAM.
Registration is not required. Signage will be in the Lobby with the location of the docent.
