Visionnaire Series: Fashion & Design in Grand Rapids

Join us for an eclectic presentation of local fashion designers’ work, featuring four collections created by faculty and students from Kendall College of Art and Design’s Pamella Roland DeVos School of Fashion. 

During this free event, learn about the processes and inspirations behind their recent projects, which include Kendall College Fashion Studies Chair & Associate Professor Lori Faulkner’s Sustainable Seventies” sabbatical series, a collection of sustainable travel wear, a line of plus-size garments for curvy women, as well as a look into KCAD’s student collaboration to create the costumes for the Grand Rapids Ballet’s Jumpstart 2022 performances. The presentations will follow with a Q&A with the designers.

Please note: Program safety measures include face covering recommendations, regular sanitization and cleaning, and restricting the sharing of tools/​materials among participants. Masks will be available for those who do not have one.

About the Artists

Lori Faulkner

Lori Faulkner is an Associate Professor and the Chair of Kendall College’s Fashion Studies program. During the talk, she will present her sabbatical collection titled Sustainable Seventies.” 

Zoe Roberts

Zoe Roberts is a Junior in the Fashion Studies program at Kendall, who will share her class’ costume designs created in collaboration with the Grand Rapids Ballet’s Jumpstart program this year. 

Maria Dawley

Maria Dawley is a Senior in the Fashion Studies program at Kendall, who will present a plus size collection featuring unique textiles and surface embellishments to empower and celebrate curvy women.

Mali Jean Borisch

Mali Jean Borisch is a Junior in the Fashion Studies program at Kendall, who will present a line of sustainable travel wear created for the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) competition this year.
