Visionnaire Series: Jewelry Design & Fashion Show with Carolyn Ferrari

Join the GRAM Visionnaires for an immersive presentation by local artist Carolyn Ferrari, as she shares 20 years of experience in designing one-of-a-kind jewelry. 

Learn more about Carolyn’s serendipitous start in jewelry-making, how her designs and inspirations have evolved over her artistic career, and the active ways that she uses her artwork as a medium for supporting and uplifting asylum seekers and senior citizens. Carolyn’s talk will follow with a live fashion show and demonstration of her jewelry, as well as an audience Q&A.

Please note: Program safety measures include face covering recommendations, regular sanitization and cleaning, and restricting the sharing of tools/​materials among participants. Masks will be available for those who do not have one.

About Carolyn Ferrari

The artist Carolyn Ferrari began designing in 2001 and quickly became one of the hottest jewelry designers in Detroit.

Carolyn’s attention to detail shows in everything that she does, including how she presents her art to the public. At her first gallery exhibition, she was awarded Best Exhibit 2003” by Redd Apple Gallery for her Strange Fruit” exhibit in October 2003.

Carolyn has been a guest designer for Ziam’s Liquid Silver” shows in Detroit and designed jewelry for cast members in the play Mahogany Dreams” by Dorothy Tene Redmond. She was one of two Detroit artists invited to feature at Pontiac Arts Beats & Eats Festival in 2004 by the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.

Carolyn made her international debut in Dakar, Senegal where she and Sharrone completed their first Destination Africa” International Fashion week (November 2004) culminating with an international fashion show at Complex Sadiya. Carolyn’s work was cheered by some of Senegal’s best clothing and accessories designers including former model Sadiya Gueye. Upon returning from Senegal, she partnered with Mr. Cedi as the featured jewelry designer for the Ebony Fashion Fair Charity Pre-Show, a runway show produced by Mr. Cedi to raise monies for the UNCF.

Carolyn Ferrari has designed for local and national celebrities including: Erykah Badu, Angela Bofill, Penny Wells, Questlove of the Roots, Paul Randolph, Amp Fiddler, DJ Korie for the cover of Metro Times, Inohs Sivad, Joaquin Joe” Claussell, and Rhonda Walker (WDIV Channel 4 News anchor). Her work was also featured in the 2006 Swimsuit issue of Motor City Sports Magazine, The Michigan Front Page (December 2008).
